Introduction and Question

I'm new to the board, joined last week. Thought I should introduce myself. My name is Dave Reasoner. I have a 84 short stepside beater that gets my attention when I have spare time. You guys with kids probably understand 3 kids and a wife take a lot of my time.

My question concerns the New Process 833 4 speed O/D manual trans. apparently used in the 80's by GM and Chrysler. Is it a good enough trans to warrant swapping one into an auto equipped truck?

I have one from a GM truck and most of the parts required to swap over to a clutch. I was wondering if the manual trans 1/2 ton 2wd used the small or large hump cabs from the factory.

I would appreciate any insight you guys may have. Thanks

Dave
