72 GMC Brakes Hard as Heck

Hi all! My father recently passed away and I got into his old truck and the brakes require me to dang near stand on them to stop. About 6 months ago, he replaced the booster, m/c, and pads and the truck stopped like a champ. Then a couple months afterwards, he rebuilt to carb on it and had it tuned, etc. I'm not sure what may have caused this new wrinkle -- the "brake" light on the dash is on now (never used to be). It has a 400BB in it but that is about all I know about the old girl. I'm thinking a vacuum leak but, to be honest, I have no idea where to start. Penny for y'alls thoughts?
