Gas tank relocation

I didn't find a consolidated thread with info on what others have done, so feel free to add input. Details like where/what the tank came from, sending unit compatibility, filler construction, etc.



My reason for asking: I think the behind-the-seat tank in my 71 is rusty. I still haven't figured out how bad it is (hopefully pulling it all out this weekend), but I got rust in the filter from somwhere and the gas from the aux tank looks good. I have to replace lines and the switching valve anyway, so it's time to address the whole system. I like the aux tank, but there's no level sender and I need my gauge to work for at least one tank.

I may just clean the stock tank, treat it and seal it (I'm cheap like that). But if I need to replace it, I'd rather spend that money moving it. But again, I'd like the gauge to work...
