I need a measurement.......

Could somebody with an unmolested short bed (fleetside) please measure the distance between the bed rails on the front end of the bed, just behind the front bed panel? (between the top inner edges of the bed rails). I installed some repro bed sides last night and the top front panel holes aren't lining up perfectly so I need to know how far apart the bed sides should be.
