Need a little help with Alternator Problem
The problem is something is damaging the internal regulator, I have replaced the alternator 3 times in a month. Each one replaced, I was told by Autozone tech that the regulator was bad.
1. I conduct tests using test light connected from negative battery post to Negative cable. The light is on. 2. I removed all fuses from fuse block, the light stayed on 3. I dis-connected the underhood harness from the fire wall to rule out the cab, the light stayed on 4. With the harness disconnected, I dis-connected the hot wires from the power relay block on the fire wall, the light stayed on. 5. With the harness and relay block disconnected, I unplugged the votage gauge (Red and Brown) from top of alternator, the light went off. 6. Is the alternator the problem? 7. Is something else damaging the internal regulator inside the alternator? 8. Is it the correct alternator? I had to match it up to fit, the autozone tech sold me an alternator for 95 camaro, because of the wide pulley. |
