Gas tank filler hose?

Swapped in an aftermarket '87 20-gal tank (with baffles) to replace my 20-gal carb'd tank and the old filler hose pipe is a smaller diameter than the inlet to the new tank. The hose pipe is prob. as old as the truck (1980) and is thus hard as a rock. Is that the reason why it doesn't fit, or did the '87 tanks come with a bigger inlet diameter, or is it because I'm running an aftermarket tank?

Need to know because I want to go ahead and order the part from LMC, but don't know if I should order for a 1980, 1987, or not at all?
