C/L find then bought

I will have some pix in the morning. The temp is going to drop below freezing tonight and guess what I have forgotten to do..........

Saw it on C/L Sunday night, 5 post selling parts off of a 66, then a post for the whole truck. 66 LWB fleetside with 5 lug disc front conversion and 5 lug rear, 305/350 trans, nice seat and new front and rear glass. Cazlled him, we talked a while and joked about some of the people we have met off of C/L. I told him I would buy the whole truck but couldn't come up until Thursday, my day off.

He had lots of calls and people were going to come up Monday and Tuesday to get stuff. He asked me to call him in the morning, Monday, so he could check out the stuff I wanted in day light. Called him and he said if I could come up Thursday he would hold the truck for me. I was very surprised and happy.

Picked it up today, he told me a guy down the street from him wanted to buy the bed if I would go by his house. He would take it off, he didn't have a way to move it cheaply. NP, made the sale, 1/3 of what I paid for the truck!

So, got home in the dark and started checking out the truck, 5 lug conversion, front and back, new ball joints, brake hoses, master cylinder. P/S box! with new hoses hanging, somebody took the P/S pump and brackets. New radiator, 2 core though , factory metal coolant pipes, nice score but no radiator shroud and nice headers.

Checked out the interior, nice mismatched black smooth bottom seat with a black scrolled top. lots of misc side chrome and redone door vent windows. There am in the dark with a big smile, truck is still on my trailer , so i get a couple of milk crates to see what the casting codes are, the engine is painted like a ford blue and has new head gaskets etc and looks like it was decked, so no #'s. Pulled a valve cover got one casting numbe.r

Wrote the castings numbers down then got under the truck to see the trans, really clean with a rebuild tag with 9/10 on it. Truck hasn't been driven with this trans........because the truck came with a power glide, the guy who sold it to me said it was a 350 but no, a 400 trans! the drive shaft was tied up, 2 piece with new u joints and carrier bearing............bigger smile.

Got so involved with the casting numbers and all the nice finds, so I go in the house and the casting numbers come back as a.........

So i have a 010 block 70's, with at least one 75 350 head big valve, nice! Then I hear that it's getting down to 27 and say oh S#$%! While I am draining radiators at the house, 3 trucks, the ones at the shop are either empty or fresh antifreeze, I flash the light on the back of my new truck and have to shake my head. It is a BBW cab! lol, after loading it, then selling the bed and all that other stuff, never realized, so, a great buy for less than 4 bills. After messing with 67-72 trucks for so long, I got used to BBW, I have had 3 64-66 trucks for a while but they are stored behind the shop and I bought 2 months ago a BBW SWB fleetside truck, still, making a C/L score with all the little small parts I needed and what looks like a fresh engine, trans and suspension.

Life is good!

pix tomorrow
