'85 K5 dimmer switch won't engage?

I have an 85 K5 with tilt column and when I was replacing the ignition cylinder a piece of plastic fell off of the area where the multilever attaches. We tried to reassemble it and put it back on it's track the way that it would appear to work but now I can't engage the dimmer switch. When I pull back on the lever there is nothing. It will go forwards or backwards and just stay where I leave it. Can anyone tell me how this area is supposed to be assembled or show me some pictures. I've done all kinds of internet searching plus reading Hayne's and Chiltons manuals and can not find any information on how to properly reassemble this piece. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
