uh oh.67-72 or the 73-87? heres my dilemma

OK,so i know this is in the 67-72 section and it could be classified as a 73-87 section but i wanna see what you guys say.

i recently bought a 1982 short bed stepside with ac,power steering,rallys,lowered a bit.running but kinda tired 350 and a 4 speed (granny low,1,2,3) tranny.original owner for 1500$

im a huge fan of the older chevy trucks.and im looking to make one a daily driver.
but my heart leans toward the 67-72 side of things.

so what im basically trying to ask is what do you guys thing would be the smartest decision for me, dropping my brand new 355 in the 82, or trade/sell for a 67-72 shortbed? im torn between this decision and i need some opinions!

82 is in descent condition perfect body no rust/or rot, everything works.
