shorter deck blocks will help some in acceleration. I like the old school stuff as in original style blocks or ''mid deck'' blocks. If you can locate used splayed valve or or SB-2 heads this will be the meanest stuff you can get. If you add nitrous ,turbos or whatever this will be the most powerfull. These heads make power real high in the rpm range so your limited as far as street driving and you trailer to the track. I helped a guy with a 427 mid deck splayed valve set up for 2 kits. It made over 1000 hp without nitrous. This was 10 years ago so you should be able to find some of that stuff pretty cheap now. I have seen 375 inch comp motors make 1,100 with the same type of set up. I have always liked good used comp eliminator parts because you know it will make power.
