AC INSTALL Buy NEW VINTAGE KIT OR PIECE 1 together with Parts? $$$
OK so its beginning to get a little on the warm side down here in Florida- I need to start thinking about installing air in my 65 C10. I have a early 80's 350 with tripple groove crank pully already installed. I also have the bolt threads in the head for the compressor bracket.
Here is what I am thinking: Plan A: find a niece OEM GM compressor in the "pick in pull" yard thats been freshly discharged $50. Find large condensor in yard in nice shape $40. have new hoses fabricated at Amazone Hose ($75) new Dryer ($?). under Dash retro Ford 65-66 Mustang/ Galaxie Unit ebay used $150. . Misc $100 ( I like the looks of these units better than the rectangular units.) PLAN B: Bite the bullet and spend $1200 on a new kit unit from one of the vintage AC companies. I bought one of these kits for my Mustang units years back for my old mustang. I love the looks of the Ford style round vents. I am not a fan of the rectangle under dash kits out there. Any Thoughts/ Suggestions? I was told buy an AC tech that the OEM compressors that GM use are very good quality. What about condensor- Does size Matter? |
