CPP - Disc Brake Conversion Brackets - Anyone used these?
I’m done a ton of searching for the most cost-efficient way to swap disc brakes and power steering onto the ’65 C10 LWB I’m working on. I must have fifty threads bookmarked.
Recently while browsing through CPP (Classic Performance Products) online catalog, I ran across these: http://www.classicperform.com/Store/.../6370DBK-5.htm “This Bracket kit allows you to change your 6-lug drum brakes to 5-lug on 4-3/4" GM passenger car bolt circle disc brakes while retaining the stock spindles. Kit works with 1969-74 Chevelle rotors & 1969-72 Camaro calipers.” In my case, more than likely the most efficient route for me to upgrade to disc brakes is to use 73- up control arms / spindles etc, and since I plan on installing power steering as well, it makes sense (at least to me) to install the complete 73-up steering linkage as well. But this seems like a pretty economical way to get disc brakes, especially if you aren’t doing later model power steering. You can get rebuilt calipers for about $75 for the pair (and that’s eating the core charge for the calipers). Rotors run $110 for the pair. I searched the forums several times, never found a reference for these brackets. Has anyone used them?
