Looking at a '79
Looking at a '79 Longbox. Pretty rusty. Box is really bad. Interior is really nice, odometer reads 202,000 Kms.
It has a 350 Vortec out of a rolled over '99 Yukon (which had 15,000 Kms on it at the time of rollover). The guy put new rings in it, new water pump, new timing chain (I think he said double roller), GMPP LT4 cam, Edelbrock Air-Gap Vortec Intake, Edelbrock 750-cfm Electric Choke carb. It has about 20,000 Kms on it in this truck. Tranny is a Turbo 350 with a shift kit and a 2600 stall. Though you sure couldn't feel the kit or stall. Mind you, I never really got into the throttle as the engine was still cold. I noticed that the pan was leaking pretty bad so it will need to be resealed. The carb still needs tuning, it was running rich and he said he was having trouble setting the choke. Brakes are really good, front end feels tight, drives real nice, though it does have a hesitation at part throttle. The guy is asking $3500 Canadian (Rough estimate $2500 U.S.) firm. The guy is about 40 years old, he's the second owner and doesn't seem like he abused the truck. Do you guys think it's worth what he's asking? Last edited by Levi; 09-23-2003 at 02:37 AM. |
