Clutch linkage adjustment Q

The bellcrank pivot ball on the block of my 67 k-20 snapped ! got the stub out and put a new pivot ball in. I'm thinking it snapped maybe because the adjustable-length rod might not have been set right ?

I'm wondering how much play should be in the adjustable rod that goes between the bellcrank and the throwout fork. Thanks alot.
