Companies that take stock, mechanical speedometers and convert them to electronic?

I'm doing an LS swap into my Suburban. As part of this, I want to take the stock speedometer and modify it to accept a VSS directly. (meaning no cable-x or anything sitting in between)

I found Classic Instruments, who said they can do this, but the cost is ~$1400.

Does anyone know of a similar vendor that can do the same thing at a slightly less exorbitant price tag?

Again, not interested in the "shim" solutions where something sits in between the powertrain and the speedo. I want to modify the speedo so it can accept the signal directly.

thanks.
