question for those running bags

i'm going to start off running my rear bags up against the frame and trailing arm (without plates). from the photos you can see they won't have 100% support. on the top outer part of the frame the bag goes past almost 1", on the inside about 5/8" past. anyone run them like this without any problems?
i have some plates made already, i may cut off (half moon looking) what i need and weld it up against the notch so it's flat all the way across to give it the full support.

in the last photo (just over 1" past each side) i'm not as concerned because i will go ahead and weld the plate section on. i think over 1" per side is a little to much for comfort.

any troubles or thoughts? thanks
