Motor mount help!!
I purchased the tubular v8 crossmember from classic parts. I also purchased the motor mounts that had a rubber insert that get bolted to the block. This set up allows you to move the motor forward about 3/4 of an inch as well.
I got everything bolted up leveled and tightened up but as I started to lower the engine hoist the motor started to rotate back towards the firewall. What the heck? There goes my additional clearance... I thought maybe the crossmember was rotating on the 'collars' but I did this a couple of times and each time the rotation was comming from the motor mount themselves...like the rubber was allowing the rotation. Could the be bad? they are brand new.. I also have a set of engine mounts with no rubber, it is just a metal plate with the mounting for the large bolt that goes thru the crossmember..... Need some advice on what to do next, buy new rubber mounts or use the non rubber mounts I already have. Will these transmit more vibes to the truck? Hoping to hear from guys with experience with this type of crossmember motor mount system. Thanks, LDO Posted via Mobile Device
