New member tons of probably dumb question
New to the site, I've been reading and looking for info for the past couple of days. I probably haven't dug enough but my biggest question is what frames can I bolt my 66 cab onto. My goal is to have something new enough to have 5on5 and disc brakes and be a short bed frame. I have the truck my dad drove when I was young. It's a 66 big window factory air SBC with a regular bed.
It's my understanding that is that it's bolted on to a 67 gmc frame currently. My only clue it there is mid engine mount not the front style my 57 has. And when my uncle bought it there was some funny stuff with the title, ie like its titled as a 67 GMC.(you old guys did crazy stuff in the 70's) It has trailing arms?? It's has power steering?? I have not pulled the cab yet to check the frame vin yet. Probably wont pull the cab until I swap the frames. I bought a short bed from a guy and its not a 66 bed because no back up lights, and it has trailing arms. Why I'm so confused is some guy told me that only 63 had trailing arms and 67 and newer, but that doesn't seam right?? 1. What frames can I bolt to that will have disc brakes. 2. What frame do I have. 3. Please correct any of my misinformation, I'm new to these trucks. Posted via Mobile Device |
