Yeah, it'll help. Also...if you leave the intake/exhaust bolts a little loose when you mount the two back together, it'll make alignment a little easier. Once you have the manifolds bolted to the head, then tighten up the 3 that hold the two manifolds together.
good plan. I learned the hard way long ago to not tighten anything down until you have all bolts in something. Makes you really good at taking things apart to get it right!
