New Family Suburban
Finally wore out the old family ride. I now have found and put together a cheap family beater. 2 years ago i paid 650.00 for this suburban. We needed the brand new 31-10.5-15 bfg all terrains for our old 1991 suburban. The wife completely agreed that it was worth it because it was cheaper than buying the tires alone. So I put the old bald tires on it and parked it on the back 40 of my parents ranch. I pulled it out a few months ago and pulled the blown up rear axle and 1/2 ton front axle put her on jack stands and started to clean. I am the sole provider for my entire family so money isn't easy to spare and I know most of you know what I'm saying.
I took the existing axles apart and sold every part I could on ebay and Craigslist. this gave me Capitol to start the project, I bought a 88 3/4 ton 4x4 for 450.00 it had a super clean interior and ran like a champ, and low and behold it has 4.10 geared axles. However she didn't have current registration and I like the 1991. I put another ad on Craigslist and sold the interior for purchase price. Now I. Have a motor transmission and t case, posted those and gone within 3 days hmm now I'm ahead almost 1300... What to buy I got on Craigslist and fount a 4 inch lift springs and blocks and u bolts out of a 78 Chevy 3/4 ton pickup with low miles so a deal was struck and I walked out with the lift kit minus the shocks or steering arm for 175.00 I went to the local 4x4 shop and purchased the shocks and asked the guy behind the counter if he knew anyone looking for some 4.10 3/4 ton axles the rear had a posi? He said to me, I do a deal was struck and I traded the matching axles for a front 30 spline 4:56 front 10 bolt axle and a 3:73 geared rear axle. I installed the front and rear in my suburban. Now before I get a bunch of flack for the mis-matched axles I haven't even taken it off the jack stands yet. Lol. Another week and a half on Craigslist scored me the tires and wheels with the lug nuts for 300.00. So far so good. Now to correct time I just got myself a gear set and the master kit for the rear differential so this week ill be rebuilding the rear diff so I can play in the mud with it. So what do you think of my sub I got by using the barter system. Posted via Mobile Device
