3/4 ton to 1/2 ton

What are the differences between 3/4 ton and 1/2 ton trucks? The reason i ask is that i have a 1984 8 lug suburban that i need to get drop spindles for and convert go 6 lug bolt pattern. I noticed that the c20 drop spindles are like $180 bucks more. Can i use 1/2 ton spindles and brake components? What parts would i need?
