big engines and stock suspension

Are there any people in here running a 396 or 454 engine in their TF series trucks with stock suspension? I'm building a 58 TF for my wife and would like big power engine wise. As far as the suspension, we are going to drop it 3, 4, or 5 inches but i want to keep it fairly stock. I'm really not interested in the whole mustang 2 and 4 link stuff. I know it would improve ride quality but i just want to be able to stomp the gas and get on it every now and then without the truck falling apart. Would i need to box the frame with a bigger engine? Any help with information on the basic stuff i will need to do with the bigger engine setup is appreciated. Thanks.
