1964 Chevrolet C10 2WD SWB
-Problem: Shifter through the floor moves freely side to side, thus, allowing it to fall out of gear.
-Source of problem: Shift linkage brackets are not secured due to previous owner's modifications (v8 sbc swap.) Solution: Fabricate a bracket to hold the shifter in place! I made the bracket to bolt into the two holes on the shift linkage bracket and to anchor onto the crossmember. -Here is what I threw together: Here is the general shape of the bracket after I had it welded together and before I drilled the holes. I just purchased a MIG welder a few weeks ago and I am using up the flux core wire that came with it, so the welds AREN'T VERY PRETTY! But hey, as long as they hold, it's alright. Right? Take a look: Here is the bracked all welded and bolted into place: |
