Regasket 305 or not?
I know Im going to sound like a cheap ass, and I am, but money it terribley tight and I want to keep moving forward as much as I can.
The 305 im using was in my nephew's Camaro which he wrecked about 15 years ago. It's been sitting indoors ever since. He had just put a long block in it and had less that 10,000 miles on it. I was planning on changing seals and gaskest, but do to needing some minor surgery on my foot for a bone spur, one of my 2 jobs that I work (the Part time one) will not let me work untill the Dr. releases me after the surgery. So That's about $500.00 a month out of the family budget. I know thats a lot of info you guys don't need to know, but I'm just laying out the reasons for being so cheap : Anyway I need some opinions whether or not, since the engine sat so long, if you guy's think I will run into any trouble with dried up gaskets leaking and spoiling a fresh coat of paint? freeze plug issues? it' still had some nice green antifreeze in it a few minutes ago when I tipped it a little while separating it from the tranny. The oil was kinda dirty, but looked good when I pulled the filter. I know that means nothing as far as the gasket because they are still out of the oil, just sayin. Any thoughts or opinions are welcome. I know the right thing to do would be to bite the bullit, but that would have to wait a couple months. I'm tempted to just take a chance.
