quick connect vs tube nut style fittings
What do you guys run? Right now I have 4 quick connect fittings, one for the rail and three on the filter/reg. I'm running a mix of hard line and Teflon hose for the rest. I have access to the tool gm uses to make quick connect ends but I'm wondering if there is any pro/con between the two styles. The quick connect fittings are more expensive but are they worth the extra cost and time? I'll be using 3/8" zinc coated steel for the supply and return lines both because it was cheaper to buy one size in bulk.
Sort of a side question, but I'm using the stock in cab tank. The plan is to remove the stock 5/16" supply line on the sending unit plate, drill it out and put two 3/8" lines on, one for supply and one for return, and then mount the stock fuel level sender onto the new line. My problem is the fuel sock on the end of the old line. Can I purchase a sock for the new line? Is it a press fit sort of deal or do they clamp on? I haven't really looked into it so I'm sure I could search it on summit/jegs, but I'm also interested in your opinions about the setup as a whole. Posted via Mobile Device
