If you have to check one in a vehicle you can use silly putty (great to use when buying a vehicle!). Press it on the numbers and read it in a mirror.

Yea thought i had a TBI 350 in my camaro one time... I knew they were swirl ports, because all tbi motors came with those wierd heads.. even though the engine was a 305, it screamed and seamed like a 350 chevy.. but i took a valve cover off turned out to be a H.O 305. took the engine apart, had a roller set up in it. Not only that the engine had mechanical fuel pump boss. wierdest engine ive seen. it had the SGI insignia right were the casting numbers should be
