The heads really hold the HP back, they're not hi flowing... they're set up for velocity not volume so it makes torque down low. Any big cam will make all that go to waste. A smaller cam with decent lift and a good bit of overlap would be best if you felt like you needed to do it. That would void the warranty and probably only net a very minimal set of the pants improvement.

If you wanted to drop a little coin some small chamber heads, improved intake, and then a cam/valvetrain upgrade would result in a nice combo and the short block should be solid but for that kind of money it may be better to find a 350 core and build an entire engine that is all matched up pistons/heads/valvetrain etc.

Good points. Kinda what I figured. Might still go for it just to freshen the truck up. Might pursue more hp down the road.
