Just had to say....
So I'm not really a "new" member (although definitely not a veteran) but I never formally introduced myself so I figured now's the time.
I am much more of a lurker than a poster but I have been reading as much of the posts on this site as time, and my wife, will allow for a year now and I just wanted to say a few things. This is possibly the greatest site on the internet. The amount of useful, and otherwise very difficult to find, information here is staggering. Like I said, I've been reading for a year and each time I do a search I learn more. Which is part of the reason I don't post that much...don't need to. But far more impressive to me than even the wealth of knowledge is the civility and kindness. I'm a member of a few other forums (mostly unrelated to trucks) and often find myself appalled at the way people treat each other. I have (almost) never seen a thread on this site devolve into a sh*t throwing contest and that amazes me. This site has so many members from drastically different nations, cultures, ages and socio-economic levels and yet nearly everyone treats each other kindly. I have seen so many "stupid" questions asked (some of them mine!) that were answered in a kind and truly helpful manner with what seemed like a sincere desire to educate and assist. That behavior seems to be harder and harder to come by these days. So I would just like to give a very heartfelt thank you to the admins and all the members of this site who make it great! Me: Hailing from SE Portland (by way of central Maine, by way of central Florida) I am a 30 something construction worker. My perfect first date would be....oh wait wrong site! I have a wonderful 78 Heavy Half who isn't the prettiest but hasn't left me stranded yet. A few pictures below of course. Contemplating starting a build thread but since my "build" basically consists of "oh crap {insert part here} broke, guess I have to fix it" I don't think many folks would be too interested. You will never see rims, a lift, a drop, new upholstery, or probably even new paint on my truck. Not that there is anything wrong with any of those things but I don't have the time, money or shop space to seriously consider them. I have two priorities: keep it rust free and keep it running. I would be ecstatic to have my children drive it. Anyway, enough about me. A huge thanks again to all who make this site great! |
