Need help!

Hey guys, bought my first project around Thanksgiving, a 67 short stepside. It's missing a lot of parts and the hardest thing is recognizing what parts are missing and figuring out where to get them.
Right now I'm replacing the brake light switch and have run into a problem. My brake pedal comes up way too high, and the portion that is supposed to contact the switch rides right against the mount for the switch when the pedal is all the way up. The switch that was in it was just hanging down by the wires, and it looks like the pedal stripped the threads and pushed it out of the mount. So my question is what is supposed to limit the pedals upper travel? I do not have an emergency brake assembly under the dash, the truck was missing it when I bought it. Does the e-brake have a stop for the brake pedal made onto it?
I'm trying to get it drivable this weekend since we have a break in the weather, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
