Sloppy steering column - help needed!
I have a '71 C10 that my son and I are slowly bringing back to life. The steering column (auto / non-tilt) has some serious issues! (PO changed original steering wheel to a smaller Grant wheel) The gear shift lever is generally sloppy, not crisp movement like a new vehicle. In fact, sometimes when driving it will fall from D to L2. I'd assume there are bushings, spacers, washers, etc. that could be worn, assembled incorrectly, or missing components entirely.
Two requests: - Is there a "rebuild kit" to tighten up the column movement? - Can someone provide a schematic so I can determine if the assembly order is correct. If anyone else has suggestions, causes, or fixes please jump in! Thank you |
