LS SWAP: Need some help

I have a 84 GMC C1500, I've already had some comments on a different thread from a few guys, the LS has my attention. I got a 84 Gmc truck to work on as a project, got the transmission rebuilt after it have on me. I'm wanting to either rebuild the sbc 350 or throw in a LS. My dad says rebuild the 350 but I want a LS, what are some reasons to convince him to do a LS swap? Also can you get good ones from a junkyard? Got this truck to have a project with my dad, will be a daily driver to highschool after we finish restoring it. Thanks!
