Hooking up reverse lights to a TH400
My truck is a combination of many different ones. It has a TH400 auto trans. The previous owner was just using a toggle switch to turn on the back-up lights.
Should this be hooked to a switch in the transmission or on the shifter? The transmission has a 1/4" male terminal on the drivers side down low. I assumed it was the switch I was looking for and since it only had 1 terminal it grounded it when reverse was selected. I connected my test light from the batt. pos. to this terminal but it's grounded no matter what gear the trans. is in. If this isn't the back-up light terminal where is it? Also, the truck will start in any gear; where's the park/neutral start switch located?
