1979 K10 drivetrain swap tcase problem... Clocking ring solution?
So I pulled the 305/th350/np203 and am swapping in a 5.3/4l60e/NP241. After getting the engine bolted down where it needs to be and measuring out the transmission cross member and mocking it up where it needs to be I through the tcase on to see how it would bolt up... I was a little dumbfounded...
At first I thought I mounted it on the wrong hole... But then after moving it to the next hole up I realized its just not going to line up. Is that steep angle in the first pictures how these transfer cases sit stock? http://diy4x.com/cart/index.php?rout...&product_id=64 Looking around I found a clocking ring at DIY4x.com. It has 3 positions. Stock, 15*, and 30*. Talking to my buddy he says by flattening out these NP241's you can burn up the planetary's. And he also said this is the cross member I should go with... http://image.fourwheeler.com/f/92688...rossmember.jpg So I guess my questions 1. Is the top picture how the NP241 transfer case supposed to mount? 2. If not is this clocking ring something I can use without tearing up the tcase? Thanks yall
