1965 SWB 4x4 Production #s

Does anyone know how many 1964-1966 Short bed 4x4 trucks were built. A friend of mine found one about 3 weeks ago and picked it up at a small car lot. He paid $5000 for it. It seems to have 95000 original miles. The body has some rust but the cab is very nice and waxed up the patina is great. He wants to replace the sheet metal as he finds it. It runs great with a 292 engine. Everything works except the shifter has no real neutral. Possibly the detent spring is bad. I was unsure of the production since i have only seen a few short bed 4x4s.
