Tach Repair

I'm wondering if anyone has attempted or successfully repaired a stock tach for our pickups?

I have a stock tach, and it works well when cool. However on a hot day, or when the dash lights are on and heat up the tach, it stops working. It starts reading really slow. Maybe it just gets sluggish like I do on a super hot day

Anyway, I'm guessing that there may be a straight forward way to repair. I haven't torn into it yet and was hoping that before I do someone with experience might give some advice.
Thanks!
