Re: Monster - 1974 GMC Suburban 2500 Super Custom

a friend from a friend offered to weld the exhause crossover for me...pretty cool

put a plug in

welded it for me

cool photo of him at work

took the shortblock and heads to the shop

heads were not flat (I was told they are by seller)
this is a photo of three passes by the machine shop and the heads still wasnt flat....well...the extra compression will be nice for my Propane setup

traced the debris in my heads back to coal in my valve cover. I feel so dumb for not cleaning them and putting them with coal inside them on my fresh engine....

while the shop was working on my heads, replaced my cam bearings and replaced a couple freeze plugs..I went ahead, pulled my dashboard and placed some green leds behind the gauges

short block is back...bought a new crank and bearings

crank is in

putting pistons back in

finished and closed the bottom part

that is where I am at right now. hope to finish the top this weekend.
