Let me add one more item to look at.....if your distributor goes south again, pull it out, push the lock pin out of the drive gear, pull the gear off and replace your thrust washer on the distributor shaft. When the engine is running, your cam gear is trying to push the dist. shaft up because of the angle of the gear teeth. At lower RPM, it may not be noticeable, but at higher RPM the rotor may be striking the cap.
