steering wheel cleanup / resto

Previous owner had the truck painted back in the mid 90's. Guy did the interior too. Unfortunately the gauge bezel, column, and wheel turned out like crap. The paint on the wheel is half worn, half chipped. I am looking for a paint stripper that will remove the spray paint but not affect (melt, warp, gouge) the material the wheel is made from. The wheel is solid with only a thin stress line near the hub. I would like to reveal the worn look of the wheel before it was painted.

Thanks in advance.
