1960 Apache C10 - for the second time

Newbie here. To the board, not the trucks....

My wife and I just brought home a very nice, very straight, very rust free 1960 C10 SB step side. For us, it is a return to our younger life when we were broke and care free.....

In 1985, we bought a 1960 C10 SB step from her uncle for $250. It had been his driver, and had some cool upgrades for the time (brake booster, sway bars, huge radiator, custom gauge panel), though he had pulled his high HP 350/TH350 combo out of it for use in another truck, and replaced it with a 307/3 spd badly in need of rebuild.

I was 21, in college, and in need of a project for my Industrial Arts/Automotive degree. It was the perfect platform. I rebuilt the motor, went the trans, re-did the brakes, improved the electrical, and turn it into a nice driver. My then girlfriend, (now wife) made it hers, and loved it.

Then came life..... In 1990, we learned she was pregnant, and needed money for a down payment for a reliable, "safe" car. We made the difficult decision to sell her truck for $1000 to a high school kid. I told her "don't worry, I'll get you another one someday"....

For the last 25 years, I've periodically looked for trucks. Using the internet (after it was easily accessible to regular folks), eBay, Craigslist, and various other search means as they were developed. Never really found anything I thought we could afford at the time, or if I did, they were basket cases, or too far away.

A month ago, my buddy calls me, and says "hey, I think I found your truck". Sure enough, he'd found one on a ranch that hadn't been registered since 2002, was used occasionally, but hadn't been for sale. Until a month ago...

We are able to buy it, though for a little more than $1000, and my wife is VERY happy....

Its got a nice moderate 1967 4 barrel 327/TH350 in it, but other wise all stock. No cancer/rust, good glass, very straight, and everything works. Should be another nice driver after a few upgrades, air/exhaust improvements, brakes, etc.

Looking forward to getting back into the old truck world, and using this forum to help me along the way.

Also, much thanks to Captainfab for already enlightening me to some brake upgrade info.
