1959 3100 Accelerator pedal return
So I am new to the old body style trucks and I have a question regarding the accelerator pedal linkage. It hasn't been driven since 1987, but I recently got it running and am in the middle of trying to get it driving.
The truck is pretty much all original and untouched. The linkage, return spring hanging off the block, etc is all intact and functioning, however the throttle doesn't return all that well when the pedal is depressed in the cab. If you push the rod sticking out of the floor by itself with your hand it snaps back into place nicely, but when the pedal is used not so much. I was going to try and get a stiffer spring to pull the linkage down more aggressively but I was wondering if I was missing something? I couldn't find a diagram of the pedal all the way to the carb online. The truck has a 235 straight 6 with the Rochester 1bbl B carburetor, SM420 4spd transmission. |
