Toyota Timing Belt
Am I allowed to talk about yotas here? heh
I think Im good to go here but wanted to get some thoughts before I actually fire it up since its an interference motor. So I changed the timing belt on my 4.7 tundra using the 50 degrees ATDC mark at the crank and the T marks on the cams and after a few manual rotations they got out of sync. I thought I did everything right but apparently not either the belt slipped or I need glasses. So I tried again but this time using the TDC mark on the crank and cam, and everything stays in sync. I have the plugs out for ease of rotation and there does not seem to be any resistance or noises. Allthough Im not sure there would be if there was a timing issue and the valves and pistons were crashing. So thoughts? Some of my readings indicate its is a bad idea to rotate the cams without the belt hooked up but Im assuming this is to avoid spinning the cam when a piston in that bank is at TDC so you dont bend a valve. |
