My 71 K/20 LWB has all the trim pieces at the moment but
My 71 K/20 LWB has all the trim pieces at the moment but a third of them are loose and or the clips holding them are compromised to some degree. I was thinking of getting some small black screws and using them to keep the trim pieces on there for good. Here is a example that was on the truck when I got it.
This was also on the truck when I got it and I consider this a BAD example. This is what not to do IMO. My question is would you guys here at 67-72 chevy trucks consider this sacrilege to attach the trim by drilling small holes and using small black screws in the black area of the trim? Because you know eventually the trim will come loose again somewhere a few years down the road and I will have to redo some of the clips again at that point. This would solve it once and for all is what I was thinking. And for a bonus pic take a look at another electrical WTF that was done by the PO. This is the same truck that had a mystery capacitor installed to a wire off of the voltage regulator, which now seems tame compared to this 14 GA Fuse Wire link that I found in the middle of a ball of electrical tape. The tape was the degraded kind that is more like tar than tape. look closely and see that the Fuse Wire has got hot enough to melt through the insulation covering it but not quite hot enough for the wire itself to melt. Just glad I found this before something really bad happened. |
