Buying a vehicle for parts - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Hi All,

I have located a 1966 truck that I would like to buy for parts only. From the looks of it, it has not been driven for some time. The seller is a private party. The seller has lost the title, and has told me he will provide a bill of sale. I don't plan to register the "parts" truck, only use the parts on a truck that already has a valid California registration.

My question is: how important is it to get a title from the seller, given that I don't ever plan to register the "parts" truck VIN?

Any thoughts, suggestions, or opinions are appreciated...Thanks!
