Neutral Safety Switch 4L60E Van Column

Hey All! Just picked up a 70's, 80's gmc van tilt no key steering column. It has cruise on the signal lever. In trying to find info on the column, I have a few questions.

The column has a curved harness plug and no NSS. It's my understanding that GM didn't put NSS on columns till 1969. Sound right?

The column has no NSS or holes where one once was. Most all pictures of the van columns I see have the NSS mounted on it. I am running a 2006 5.3/4L60E combo. The trans has a NSS on the drivers side. Am I correct in thinking that I don't need the column mounted one as the trans has one? Do I just have to make sure that the harness I get is wired up for a trans mounted NSS?

Please enlighten me.

Cheers!
