Questiosn: Restoring a LWB Stowage Box Door (1972 C20)

Hi.

Anyone on the message board restore a stowage box door? Looking for tips. I am planning on using a repair panel from LMC for the lower front passenger side bed to make a new skin for the door.
As I started to strip away the rust and rot, I found a few things that I wanted to know if anyone had encountered before...

1. It looks like the hinges were welded to the door as well as screwed. Is this factory?
2. When I started to strip the door of paint, I found a SUPER thick coat of bondo on the whole door. Is this factory?
