4L60 Cooler Lines

In process of completing an LS swap in my '65 C10. I need to make the trans cooler lines. I have the original fittings with new o rings and clips installed but the steel lines have been cut. So I have the factory connection on the trans with 2 steel lines that have been shortened.

Can you use barb fittings and rubber hose to complete the connection to radiator? Or does it require AN type connection?
