Vacuum pump for AC control?

I'm done with my LQ4/4L80 swap on my 87 Suburban, and when I went to tee into my brake booster vacuum line the vent control worked fine but, I lost my power brakes! When I took the tee out, the brakes worked fine again. This tells me for some reason the brake booster lost enough vacuum to not work properly with it tapped into. I'm wondering if I have a vacuum leak between the tee and the other end of the vacuum hose. With a vacuum on the line AC controls work fine. Could I get a small 12v vacuum pump and hook it to the AC control vacuum line?
