Here in the state of Idaho if you do not follow the proper legal requirements when switching frames (frame and cab with different VIN's) you run the risk of having your vehicle confiscated by the Idaho State Motor Vehicle investigator and it possibly being crushed.

With that said if you use a '73+ frame there will be a good bit of fabrication work involved and you will end up with about a 3" body lift. Been there done that.

If Lyle up in Bonners Ferry has a '60-'66 4x4 frame. that would be the best foundation to start with.
