Gas sitting in carb 5+ years - help!
This carb was a rebuild that I put on my truck 5-6 years ago. Worked fine at the time, but my plans for the truck morphed/expanded and it hasn't been started in all this time. I know better, but didn't do anything about the gas in the carb.
Of course, now that I'm ready to get it running again, there are problems. Disassembled the carb to find this (1st three pictures). Float wouldn't move, accelerator pump stuck, basically anywhere containing fuel was built up in this white residue. Soaked it a couple of times in Berryman's Chem Dip which did very little. Did a lot of scraping and brushing, then used an aerosol carb cleaner and still have what you see in the 4th picture. Pretty heavy residue. So, looking for something that will clean this crap and leave me confident that I've also got all the small passages, etc. clean. Is it time to get another carb? Is there a product to dissolve and clean this?
