Help!!!

My '76 is in the middle of getting its frontend rebuilt and replaced and my son (my mechanic) has crapped out on me. Forfeiting payment, of course. But that's neither here nor there.
I need to get this truck back together. I can follow directions and turn a wrench, I just need to know where to apply that wrench.
Can anyone direct me to a website, book, or to someone willing to direct me through this.
I can't afford to take it to a shop or to call a mobile mechanic. I don't trust any of these so-called"mechanic" friends. I just can't subject my truck to that. Also I feel it would be more rewarding to do it.
PLEASE HELP!!!
